Bibiana - International House of Art for Children

Bibiana is a cultural institution with international activity. It was founded in 1987 as a partner of a world-known event with a long tradition Biennial of Illustration Bratislava.

From the beginning it was professionally specialized as a gallery institution supporting a development of illustration works for children and improving quality of literature for children in Slovakia and abroad. Gradually, with the help of new people and new ideas, the philosophy of Bibiana began to change, possibilities of development and spreading art for children became wider, creating a rich spectrum of genres

These days Bibiana focuses on art creation for all age categories of children and juveniles and supports it. It offers art by non-traditional, experimental forms. It combines accessible information, knowledge and experience into new contexts understandable for children and communicates with them. Exhibition and program activities are focused mainly on interactive exhibitions with various accompanying events - theatre and music performances, workshops, etc. Bibianas activities are highly professional because it cooperates with various artists - graphic artists, production designers, writers, musicians, actors and students of Fine Arts University and Theatrical Art University.
