Tatranska Lomnica

Tatranska Lomnica (850 meters) is the most eastern station of electric railway in the High Tatras. It has also direct train connection to Poprad. Similarly to other bigger settlements it has post office, bus station, supermarkets, shops, restaurants, gallery, cinema and many accommodation possibilities.

Tatranska Lomnica offers possibilities for skiing (sport area Jamy) and is a very good access point to Skalnate Pleso (1751 m) via two funiculars. A cage ropeway continues from Skalnate Pleso to Lomnicky Stit peak (2632 m). Lomnicky Stit is the third highest pinnacle in the whole Carpathian bow, and the highest place in Central Europe where people live. In winter and at the beginning of spring the Skalnate valley below Lomnicke Sedlo saddle offers very good conditions for downhill skiing.

Skalnata Dolina valley with Skalnate Pleso lake is a good starting point for a trip to the Dolina Zeleneho plesa (Zelene Pleso valley) or to the Mala or Studena Dolina valleys via Tatranska Magistrala route.

There is an astronomical observatory of the Slovak Academy of Sciences at Skalnata dolina valley.
