Exclusive edition of Slovak Tales from series Book Miniatures in English language. Hand-made book work. (7,8 x 5,5 x 3cm)
These tales were collected by Slovak scholar and cultural researcher Pavol Dobsinsky (1828 - 1885). Through his masterful story-telling skills, he preserved the beauty of various Slovak dialects and highlighted the best qualities of the Slovak people, such as their morality, intelligence and capacity for enterprise. He rightly deserves a place among the other celebrated collectors of folk fairy tales, including the Brothers Grimm in Germany, Hans Christian Andersen in Denmark and A. N. Afanasiev in Russia.
There are these fairy tales in Slovak Tales I:
Salt is Better Than Gold
A Tale of the Twelve Months
The Wolf Who Ordered a Pair of Boots
A Wizard Named Lobster
Old Bodrik and the Wolf
Slovak Tales II:
An Egg Went Wandering
The Riddle of the Three Pennies
Popolvar, the Greatest in the World
How a Gypsy Outsmarted a Devil
