The Bratislava City Choir is one of the best-known major choirs in Slovakia. It was established in 1971 by the City Cultural Centre in Bratislava under the name Bratislava Chamber Choir. In 1979 it was renamed Bratislava City Choir (in Slovak: Spevacky zbor mesta Bratislavy). Bratislava City Choir is a universal body which has mastered equally well both a cappella style and vocal-instrumental compositions. The repertoire of the Choir is very wide. It contains over-for oratorios, cantatas and masses by composers of all styles and epochs, as well as several contemporary works.
