Zelezna studienka (The Iron Fountain)

A Former Spa Hotel

Being situated in a deep valley between thickly afforested slopes of Small Carpathians Mountains, it belongs to most popular natural recreational areas within Bratislava's city limits. Originally a spa based on two ferrous water springs, now it is swarming with suburban recreation walkers, hikers and bikers. Refreshment kiosks and restaurants are available at the place of the former spa hotel. A cascade of ponds on the Vydrica brook underlines the romantic air of the area, offering possibilities of rowing or fishing, or, in the wintertime, of relatively safe skating.

It is worth to take a walk of about 2.5 km from the Patronka bus stop for Zelezna studienka, which is also accessible by bike. You can also use the local bus, commuting between Patronka and a sanatory situated deeply in the Bratislava Forest Park Area. Zelezna studienka as well as other interesting sites in the valley can be reached also by car except on weekends, when private traffic is not permitted.
